Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire introduced the Nature system, Pokemon Abilities, Double Battles, and Contests to Pokemon with a lot of other features while keeping the core traditional gameplay of Pokemon.

Both of these 2 games are pretty much the same so you can pick either of them. In Ruby, you will be fighting team Magma with the help of team Aqua to stop them from waking up Groudon and expand the land over oceans.

You have the option to catch Groudon at the end of the game. In Sapphire, you will be fighting team Aqua with the help of team Magma to stop them from waking up Kyogre and expand the oceans. You have the option to catch Kyogre at the end of the game. Each version also has several exclusive Pokemon of their own. Pokemon Emerald is pretty much in the same universe as Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire with team Magma and team Aqua but its story is more complicated and it also has more additional features than the previous two.

In Pokemon Emerald, both teams are equally important and they will be fighting each other to get to their own goal. In the end, both Groudon and Kyogre will be awakened. You will then have to wake up Rayquaza to end the fight between the two legendary Pokemon. You will then be able to catch 3 legendary Pokemon instead of only 1. Does the concept sound a bit strange? It is. But the developers at Chunsoft did a fantastic job merging such a unique blend of mechanics, and the game is quite good overall.

I mean, think about it. Nintendo releases two virtually identical titles, followed by a new-and-improved version a few years later.

Emerald did have a few limitations imposed upon it from a technical standpoint, however. So while fairly minor, the game has some idiosyncratic flaws. Being the third best-selling GBA of all time, had it been released at the same interval as Ruby and Sapphire , it may well have taken the crown. Yet somehow, it works. And it works surprisingly well. And so it did. There are three game modes to help you do so: two from the original and a brand new mode.
